Introducing “Island Soul,” a captivating duo that seamlessly blends Funk, R&B, and Jazz.

Laying down the rhythm for the team is Jimmy Ali, an extraordinary international bassist and songwriter, who began his musical journey at the age of 7, mentored by Detroit’s renowned Rod Hicks. His talent caught the attention of George Clinton, the G.Father of Funk, leading to recording opportunities with “Parlet” and collaborations with R&B legends. Jimmy’s exceptional bass skills have graced stages worldwide. He’s opened for iconic acts such as Sly & The Family Stone, Bob Seger, and The Doobie Brothers. Jimmy’s immense experience includes performing with several recording artists including Carolyn Franklin, C.J Cameron (from The Spinners,) Norma Jean Bell & The All Stars, Lamont Dozier Sr. & Vocalist Lamont Dozier Jr., Jeane Carne, Ronnie Laws, Kirk Whalum, Angela Bofill, Bob James, Eddie Holman (“Hey There Lonely Girl”,) to name a few. Whew…! He has recorded with the legendary Motown Guitarist Dennis Coffey, Jazz Guitarist Earl Klugh, and has also had the honor of performing with The Detroit Symphony Principal Flutist Ervin Monroe. Before we run out of room, we’d like to add that he was the Musical Director for Walt Disney Cruise Line, and a member of the phenomenal Jazz Fusion duo “The Brothers Ali.”

Partnering with Jimmy is the sensational Sheli “BABY FUNK” Casana, Hawaii’s first female funk/R&B recording artist. Raised in a musical family, she possesses a soulful voice that resonates with passion. Sheli’s impressive journey includes performances in Japan, collaborations with industry greats like Amir Bayyan from Kool & The Gang, and the honor of being the lead vocalist of the legendary Rick James Stone City Band. Her talent has graced stages alongside The Pointer Sisters, Belinda Carlisle, and The Beach Boys, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.

Together as “Island Soul,” Jimmy and Sheli bring a unique fusion of funk, R&B, and Jazz to audiences worldwide. With their forthcoming album, “Unleash Da Funk,” produced and co-written by Jimmy Ali, they aim to keep the Funk alive and ignite the hearts of music lovers everywhere.
