Jon Renk & Gene Liska (AKA Jon and Gene) have been entertaining audiences together for over twenty years, originally in Southern California. They have played everywhere from the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California to west Los Angeles and from San Diego all the way to the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas, Nevada, where they currently reside. Jon & Gene are known for their great chemistry and large repertoire of tunes spanning seven decades in every genre under the sun as well as their own very popular Original Songs. While only a Duo, they pack a lot of sound with their rich harmonies which are often compared to America or the Eagles. It is often remarked that Jon and Gene sound a lot like the original artists they’re covering.
Gene, a twice nominated ‘Guitarist of the Year’ voted by the California Country Music Association (CCMA) 1995-1996, is an accomplished craftsman of style and taste. Originally from New Jersey, Gene left for Hollywood, California in the early seventies in search of a record deal and realized that dream within six months of being on the scene. He signed a record deal with the Phillips Label in Los Angeles that year. The inspiration of Les Paul, the Beatles, and many of the bands from the British Invasion was the catalyst that fueled his fire to become the well-rounded Writer, Singer and Lead Guitarist that he is today!
Jon grew up in Orange County California where he was influenced by his parent’s eclectic record collection. Some of Jon’s early heroes in music were Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Frank Sinatra to name a few. Jon is an accomplished Vocal Stylist, Songwriter and Guitarist whose extensive original music catalogue is currently represented by Blender Law.
While Jon & Gene perform individually as well, they are most happy when they’re blending their talents together and continuing in the variety and styles of music they have become known for. As consummate entertainers, these guys are definitely an act that will leave an impression on you whether you’re young, old, or anywhere in between.
